Stewardship
Mission
of the Ministry
The mission of the Stewardship Committee
is to be a nurturing body that encourages parishioners to advance the
understanding of their own
stewardship journey
and to encourage their ever growing generosity of time, talents, and
treasures.
All of our gifts and resources
come from God; stewardship is our partnership with God to do His work in
the world.
It is all we do and all we say once we say
we believe. Stewardship is a
way of life in which we give
back a portion of the gifts with which we each are blessed.
Stewardship committee meetings are held the second Friday of each month
at
7:30
AM,
normally in the Library. These meetings are open to all. Meetings begin
and end with prayer and include thoughtful discussion of what God is
calling us to do as we work to make stewardship integral to the lives of
the entire parish.
The Stewardship Committee looks for
opportunities to attract, invite, and engage others.
Understanding
that the desire for fellowship
is at the heart of this
parish, the committee looks for ways to draw people in community.
Over the past few years, we have:
-
Organized small group gatherings in individual homes.
-
Hosted wine
and cheese events after Evensong and other special events.
-
Energized the welcome/new member ministry by supporting the Buddy
Program,
manning the Welcome Table
between services, packaging Welcome Bags for visitors and
engineering
Name Tag Bags
for every pew.
-
Started a Childrens Stewardship Program that seeks to help children
understand how they are stewards of Gods world and elicits family
conversations on stewardship and spirituality.
-
Introduced a
Time and Talent Canvass that invites parishioners to share ways they
wish to give of themselves in ministry at
Christ
Church.
-
Invited
parishioners to share their faith journey story from the chancel
rail, in print and verbally. The stories have become part of worship
at
Christ
Church.
Vision for the Ministry
The stewardship
committee envisions raising the level of awareness and participation
within the church so that our faith community becomes known throughout
the Diocese of Virginia and the Episcopal Church of the
United States
as an exemplary steward of our collective time, talent, and treasure to
the Glory of God. I invite you to become an active steward of the gifts
you have been given.
Come Share the Journey.
