Carpenter's Shelter Meals
Carpenter's Shelter
meal volunteers help prepare and serve a warm dinner for the residents
of Carpenter's Shelter
Ministry Needs:
There are three
ways to participate:
1. Donate Food -
Volunteers are contacted by a Christ Church Carpenters Shelter Meals
Coordinator either by phone or e-mail the week prior to the meal. The
coordinator will request food items needed to be purchased and dropped
off at the shelter.
2. Cook/Server - A
Cook/Server helps prepare and serve the meal at the shelters kitchen
from
5:00
- 7:00
PM
on Friday evenings.
3. Meals
Coordinator - Once a quarter, a Meals Coordinator volunteer plans the
menu, calls volunteers for food donations and coordinates kitchen
volunteers on a scheduled Friday evening.
Training Provided:
No training
required for food donations or kitchen help. On the job training will be
provided for anyone interested in becoming a new Meals Coordinator.
Current coordinators work with new volunteer coordinators until they
feel comfortable.
Meetings and Time Required:
Christ
Church
volunteers are responsible for preparing meals on the first and third
Friday of every month. Coordinator and volunteers show up between
5:00
and 5:30
PM
at Carpenters Shelter and are typically finished by
7:00
PM.
food donors and kitchen help typically volunteer as often as their
schedule permits. Coordinators should plan on making a year's commitment
(four meals).
Benefits:
The opportunity to
serve those in your community who are less fortunate as well as work
beside other parishioners.
